Twinning Between Clubs

LCIF continues to facilitate twinning between clubs in the Gulf Coast and clubs around the world that want to provide relief assistance. Below is a partial list of clubs in the Gulf Coast. Clubs that want to provide assistance should contact these clubs in the Gulf Coast directly to establish a twinning relationship. Clubs in the Gulf Coast typically need assistance with fundraising, goods for evacuees or assistance in rebuilding their community or their own meeting facility.

This page also contains names of clubs hit hard by Hurricanes Rita and Wilma. This list follows the list of clubs affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Clubs in the Gulf Coast region: if you are on this list, please e-mail LCIF to detail what type of assistance you need from other Lions. LCIF then will post the information on this site. If you are not on this list and would like to be, also e-mail LCIF to provide us with a contact phone number/e-mail as well as information on the type of assistance you need from Lions. We will then post your information on this Web page. If Lions are able to help your club, they need to contact your club directly.

Note that LCIF funds will not be available for the twinning relationship.

Special Message from the Lions of Alabama

Bayou La Batre was a small, sleepy fishing village until Katrina paid a visit. This town of 4,000 people has been devastated not only because of loss of property but loss of jobs as well. Three-quarters of the population was below poverty level before the storm so you can just imagine what their lives are like now. Lions have been in the area since Sept. 9, but it is a slow go. We have provided emergency needs, vision care, household items, food, clothing, health care, utility bills, heaters and now building materials. We are supplying these items but are short on manpower. If you Lions out there have a desire to do "mission work," Bayou La Batre is the place for you. We can provide open dorm-type rooms with bunk beds and travel trailer hookups and we will feed you. If you have any skills at all - carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, even bagging groceries - we can use you. Call now if you have the desire to "Serve."
